In today’s tough economy, jobs are scarce and money is sometimes hard to come by. Many people are trying to find new ways to stretch every dollar. If you want to get the most out of your precious dollars, these tips will help you keep more money in your pocket while still living comfortably.

1. Coupons
Using coupons is a good way to save money on your next shopping trip. It may seem as if saving a few cents on a bag of chips is silly, but the savings can really add up! Sunday newspapers are usually a good source for coupons, plus they contain ads that can show you where the best sales are. There are also many online sources for coupons that can be easily printed up for your next trip to the local supermarket.

2. Buy in Bulk
You can get more bang for your buck when you buy in bulk. Stores offer bulk-sized items that can last longer than regular items and the prices are affordable. Although these stores are not ideal for easily perishable items you might not use quickly, they are perfect for buying items on your list that you can use for a while.

3. Create a Weekly Menu
Although this may not seem like much, making a weekly menu can help you stick to a grocery list and spend less money. When you go to the store without a game plan, you will end up buying items you might not necessarily need and therefore spend more money. If you have kids, have them help plan the menu for a fun family activity.

6. Shop at Thrift Stores
Shopping at a thrift store is the perfect way to find both household items and clothing at low prices. Thrift stores have a variety of items for sale at ultra-cheap prices and it can be a fun way to find unique items while saving lots of money at the same time!

7. Shop Online
Sites like Ebay offer a variety of items from clothing and shoes to furniture and electronics and it is a good way to save money on both the items you need and the gas money it would cost to drive to separate shops for each item.

8. Dollar Stores
Dollar stores have common household items like toilet paper, soap and shampoo, for only a dollar! All dollar stores are different and offer different products so go on a dollar store shopping spree and save a ton of money.

These are just a few of the thousands of ways you can save money without sacrificing the things you need or the money in your wallet. With just a little creativity and some research, saving money can be fun and easy.

There are so many things to keep in mind when buying a car. You want to get the best value for your money and avoid any complications down the road. Here are six tips to get the best buy for your money.

1. Decide on the Best Type of Vehicle
The first step is to decide on what type of vehicle is best for your needs. Some people need a very small vehicle to commute back and forth to work, while other people need a large vehicle to haul a whole team to tournaments. Deciding on the right type of vehicle will provide much satisfaction in the time you will own the vehicle.

2. Research on the Internet
Once the buyer has determined the right kind of vehicle for their needs, then it is time to research what is the right model within that type. It is important to check the safety records for particular vehicle types released by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration each year. For the best vehicle consider only those in the top two or three positions.

3. Consider the Gas Mileage
Armed with your list of safest vehicles then consider the gas mileage for the vehicles. Of course, the vehicle with the best gas mileage will cost less to operate. If vehicle A gets 30 miles on a gallon of gas, and you plan to drive the vehicle 100,000 miles and gas costs $3.00 a gallon, that vehicle will require you to buy 3,334 gallons of gas at a cost of $10,002. If vehicle B gets 25 miles on a gallon of gas and you drive that same 100,000 miles and gas still costs $3.00 a gallon that vehicle will require you to buy 4,000 gallons of gas costing you $12,000. That is a savings of $1,998 dollars. That is a big start towards the purchase of your next vehicle.

4. Consider the Maintenance Costs
Some major auto sellers allow users to enter a vehicle make and model on their website to look into this. With this info, you can find the cost of maintaining the vehicle. Remember that a savings of even $2,000 dollars will go a long way toward buying your next vehicle. Saving money is always important. Put the money in the bank so that you can buy a better vehicle for cash when it is time to make your next purchase.

5. Consider the Insurance Cost
If you are going to finance the vehicle, then you will have to have full coverage insurance. If you are paying cash for the vehicle, then you can carry only liability insurance. This can be a tremendous savings of over $2,000 a year. It often makes more sense to buy the best vehicle you can for cash and then save the money for a better vehicle.

6. Get the Vehicle Report
Before buying the actual vehicle, there is one last report to consider. Make sure to get the actual vehicle report. This report will tell you where this vehicle is from and if it has been in any major accidents. This is important so that you do not get a radioactive car from Japan.

Jackie Osnick spends her free time looking for cooking blogs, great coupons & Buy.com Weekly Deals.

The internet has truly changed the way we live by allowing us to communicate with everyone and research almost anything. As it opens our ability for human interaction, the internet also provides a means for companies to promote their products and brands through online coupons. By spending a little bit of time in front of the computer, a smart shopper can take advantage of the great deals that companies offer to earn your business.

Remember, those Sunday Coupons your mom used scour from top to bottom to find helpful savings like free Secret deodorant? Well, as times have changed, so has the look and feel of coupons. Although its nature is mostly for marketing purposes, consumers can take advantage of these kinds of promotions to try out new brands, get a discount on an item you would have already bought, and really save some money.

As many struggle to make ends meet, online specials have become a necessary means for families to stretch their budget. In fact, recent data reveals that most online coupons can save you anywhere from 25% to 100% on your purchase.

When using printable coupons, experts recommend sticking to those items that you use on a daily basis. This will allow you to maximize your savings and easily manage your weekly errands to the grocery store or Target.

Personal Items

At the top of your shopping list you have your basic personal necessities which can run from your shampoo to toilet paper. Thankfully, there are all sorts of discounts and special offers on these items, from Crest Whitestrips to hair gel discounts and everything else in between. The key is to know what you want and where to look.

Clothing

Clothing the family takes another big chunk of our monthly expenses, and as the cost of name brands continues to rise, many are now finding clever ways to save a few extra bucks while still keeping themselves fully and fashionably dressed. One of the most effective ways to achieve this is of course through the use of online coupons worth 15-20% off at your favorite stores such as Old Navy and the Gap. You can also easily search for coupons on just about any piece of apparel, from suits to shirts, dresses, jeans, slacks and even socks.

Food & Groceries

When it comes to basic necessities, food for the family is definitely at top of the list. Fortunately, grocery stores honor printable coupons for most major brands. Online coupons are especially useful in stretching your grocery budget as you can always put off luxury related purchases to save money, but everybody has to eat. You can print coupons that range from daily grocery staples to restaurant and fast food discounts. If you want gourmet or organic meals, there are coupon websites that focus on that specific market.

While some may think that using coupons will only allow you to save a few dollars each month, the reality is that there are hundreds to thousands of dollars that can be saved over the span of a year if you are willing to do a little research and shop smart.

If you’d like a little help finding free Secret deodorant coupons and Crest Whitestrips printable coupons without having to leaf through every page of the Sunday newspaper ads, then take a look at BluWiki.com. Aside from getting tipped off to some great deals, you’ll also find an active social community that you can join and participate in.

In difficult economic times, saving money and reducing expenses are the buzzwords of the day. However, saving money is more than buying in bulk and cutting out a morning latte at your favorite coffee shop. There are many hidden expenses that we take for granted because they have become part of our lifestyle.

Analyzing your routines and the effect they have on your finances is a challenge facing everyone who wants to find some extra cash. Following are six tips to help you get started. Implementing these suggestions may mean a lifestyle change for you and your family, but they are not draconian measures to put into practice. Once you have tackled these changes, you will be able to identify other hidden expenses that you can undertake.

1. Change Your Drinking Habits

Instead of buying individual bottles of water, refill your own bottles. A gallon of distilled water costs about 1 cent an ounce compared to 2 cents to 6 cents for individual bottles, depending on the brand. If you drink just one gallon a week, you could save between $33.28 and $166.40 a year.

2. Order Vegetarian

Reducing your spending does not mean you have to give up eating out. On those occasions when you do splurge, you can cut down your expense by ordering a vegetarian dish. Vegetarian dishes generally cost less than meat-based entrees and in some entrees, such as vegetarian lasagna or meat-less spaghetti sauce, you do not even notice there is no meat.

3. Replace Your Landline

In today’s mobile society, each family member often has his or her own cell phone, and the landline gets little or no use. If you still want to keep a separate number for the home, consider trading in your landline for a cell phone that has a limited number of calls a month. With the number of cell phone options available, fees can range from as low as $10 a month to $75 a year, depending on the number of minutes or number of calls. At $19.95 a month for a cell phone compared to $35 a month for a landline, you can save $180 a year. Keep in mind you may have to pay a one-time port fee of $20 to $25.

4. Get Creative

Instead of buying coloring books for young children, ask your local newspaper for an end roll of newsprint. The newsprint can be recycled when they have finished coloring.

5. Sell Before You Buy

Cutting expenses does not necessarily mean you have to cut out your shopping expeditions, although you will have to decrease the amount you spend or the number of times you visit the stores. Before hitting the mall, go through your closets and find clothing you have not worn in a while. Sell the items at a consignment shop, thrift store or yard sale, and then use that money to buy your new clothing. You will not get rich selling your old clothing, but at least you will get some of your money back and your closet will get a thorough cleaning.

6. Donate Used Clothing

If you are looking to save money on your taxes, donating used clothing to a qualified, tax-exempt organization can lower your tax bill. Make a list of the items donated and make sure you get a signed, dated receipt from the organization in case Uncle Sam asks you to prove your deduction.

Salisbury, UK (PRWEB UK) 16 June 2011

For most new parents, it isn’t just their best clothes that are under threat from baby dribble ? their finances are also at serious risk of irreparable damage. According to the LV= annual survey, raising a child until age 18 can cost over ?160,000, with baby’s first year costing upwards of ?10,000.

The new must-have eBook by DIY Father, Baby on a Budget, combines the wisdom of fathers around the world using humor and useful tips to help new parents to save over ?10,000, so they can enjoy their new life with their new baby without breaking the bank.

“Congratulations you’re a new dad! Now you have one new and rather large expense that will be hanging around for the next 20 years or so. And if you are like most new dads, the one question racing around your mind is … how am I going to pay for it all?” says DIY Father Founder Scott Lancaster.

The Baby on a Budget team has done all the hard work and research to help families save their hard-earned cash and avoid unnecessary expenses when buying things for their baby. The book covers everything from tips on how to save on baby gear, toys and clothes, food and nutrition as well as the big expense – childcare.

Three quick and easy budgeting tips from DIY Father to get started on budgeting for the family:

1.Make it a priority- before creating a budget for baby purchases sit down to determine what is important to you and your partner and make sure you are on the same page. Divide purchases into ?must haves? and ?nice to haves? – this way you will avoid many arguments over what you should or shouldn?t buy.

2.Avoid unnecessary purchases – if you are stuck for cash don?t buy items like newborn baby shoes ? they are a fashion item only. A newborn baby does not need shoes (in fact many people believe shoes are not good for them).

3.Four is more than enough – the DIY Father rule of thumb for baby clothes: one on your baby, one in the wash, and two in the drawer.

To help keep costs down, Baby on a Budget is available as an eBook for 4.95. For more information, or to schedule an interview, please contact Craig Alan Williamson at craig(at)diyfather(dot)com or 07801 479429.

Article by Anthony Coogan

Apart from buying a property, a wedding is the most difficult event that most people have to plan and prepare for. It becomes even more challenging when working to a tight budget. Here are some pointers to help you get the best value for money.

How to Budget:

When working within strict financial guidelines your wedding expenses have to be decided and planned carefully. Whoever is paying, whether it is you or your parents, or a combination of both, it is wise to set a limit of the funding available. Keep an eye on the big picture and be careful not to over commit. Given that the average cost of a traditional wedding is somewhere in the region of ,000, running over by as little as 15 per cent will cost you another ,000. After all, you really do not want to start married life with huge debts incurred by your wedding day.

Create an Expenditure List:

Start by preparing a comprehensive list of projected expenditure for each part of the wedding and this will help you monitor and control the costs. If you change your mind about certain aspects of the wedding, remember to include any extra expenses incurred in your overall budget.

20 Top Budgeting Tips:

1. Invite only the most important people in your life. – No ‘hangers on’.

2: You can use personally made invitations to add that special touch.

3. Be practical when researching and choosing the venue.

4: Try to have the ceremony and the reception in the same place so as to minimize your costs and don’t forget to haggle as most venues are negotiable on price.

5: Use candles and ribbons to decorate the venue instead of spending lots of money on expensive flowers.

6. Keep the food selection simple – to provide a finger buffet is more than adequate

7. Consider a less extravagant cake – are 4 tiers really necessary or will 2 tiers be sufficient?

8. Champagne is only for making the toasts – serve less expensive drinks the rest of the time. Also consider substituting Cava for Champagne, the taste difference is minimal but the price difference is great.

9. Is it really necessary to video the wedding proceedings? Photographs in the album are equally as memorable and if several people are taking photos you will have a good selection to choose from.

10. Recorded music presented by a DJ or Karaoke entertainment is just as good to dance to as a live band.

11. Ask a family member or friend to be Master of Ceremonies for the day

12. Borrow a friend’s classy car to get you to the venue instead of hiring an expensive limo for the event. Adorn it with ribbons and special touches to make it look the part.

13: Always get 3 quotes for every wedding day purchase over 0. This tip alone can save you many thousands of dollars and involves just a couple of extra phone calls each time you book a service.

14: Examine how much of the wedding services can be done ‘in-house’ by you and your family. Eg: Invitations, order of service, favors, balloons, cars and photography.

15: Hire your wedding dress and your bridesmaid dresses. 99% of wedding dresses that are bought end up in the loft or the garage. Hiring dresses will save you a small fortune – yet the quality will remain the same.

16: Use wedding planning software to help you organize your expenditure and help your planning. There’s loads of good, cheap wedding planning software on the market.

17: Don’t offer a free bar at your reception. Just give the guests wine with the meal and a drink for the toasts.

18: On your wedding list why not state that you would like some of your wedding services as gifts? Eg: what about wedding favors as a gift?

19: Instead of a honeymoon, why not consider a ‘honeybreak’ – a 3/4 day break way together to re-charge and have lots of ‘love ins’. You could even add this to your wedding list as an option – you’ll get plenty of takers as it’s a memorable gift!

20: Consider getting married on a day other than a Saturday. We used this tip to save 20% off the cost of our wedding – we got married on Easter Monday and had a ball!

21: Get extras thrown in when you make a booking or purchase. For example, when you book your hotel make sure the bridal suite and some guest bedrooms are thrown in free of charge.22: Give people the option of giving you checks/ money instead of wedding gifts. You’ll be amazed that the money frequently outstrips the value of any gifts you might have got!

23: Downscale on your services without sacrificing quality. Downsize your numbers, downsize the transport, downsize your honeymoon. You’ll be surprised how much excess can be trimmed from a top drawer budget by using this method.

Final Words:

Remember, careful monitoring and control of your expenses whilst at the planning stage will undoubtedly go a long way to keeping within your budget and making your special day a great success. Always allow 10% on your overall budget after cost saving – as there’s always going to be hidden costs and services that you’ve forgotten to budget for initially.

Are you faced with planning a wedding on a shoestring budget? Considering the state of today’s economy, you can rest assured that you’re not alone. Many brides-to-be are in the same boat. You can have a champagne wedding on a shoestring budget.

The good news is this: there are many things you can do that will actually help you save money on your wedding. You can still have a beautiful day, without spending thousands of dollars in the process.

Tip number one. Develop a budget. Be honest with yourself and your fiance about how much you can reasonably spend for your wedding. You can do some preliminary estimates by going to websites and seeing how much a three tiered wedding cake costs, a dramatic bridal bouquet, centerpieces, invitations, and so forth. Once you set a budget limit, stick to it. It’s easy to get carried away and decide that the darling tissue paper liners for the save the date cards are a must have and add only 0 to the total cost of the invitations. The problem is that if you keep adding 0 here and there you’ll end up thousands over budget.

Tip number two. Decide what’s important to you. If you’ve always dreamed of a beautifully embroidered wedding gown with yards of lace then cut back in other areas. Or find a wedding gown that fulfills your dream but is second hand. Because most dresses are only worn once, opting for a ‘gently used’ gown is almost like purchasing a new one… for a whole lot less.

Many bridal shops carry at least a small selection of used wedding dresses. You can also utilize online resources such as eBay. You will probably be surprised at the number of ‘designer’ gowns that are currently up for grabs, for a fraction of the price.

Tip number three. Determine what you truly want. You might think that a sit down formal dinner is the only alternative for your wedding but what you really want is to share a wonderful meal with friends and family. There are alternatives to that sit down dinner. A buffet is a great idea and cuts costs, or what about an elegant boxed lunch picnic? Or perhaps consider a selection of appetizers instead of a full meal.

Tip number four. Offer your guests the opportunity to help pay for your wedding as their wedding gift. Several of your friends could decide to pay for or supply the wine for your wedding. Others could participate in paying for the wedding cake, music, photographer, and so forth. This isn’t as crass as asking for cash donations directly and it makes your guests feel they made more of a contribution to your happy day than just showing up.

Tip number five. Research, research, RESEARCH! There are many websites that provide information on low-cost weddings. Take the time to visit several of them. Chances are you will run across MANY great ideas that you may not have thought of on your own.

The websites don’t necessarily have to be geared specifically toward weddings. Even sites such as Better Homes & Gardens and Redbook often feature wedding related articles.

Follow these tips and you can have a beautiful wedding on a shoestring budget.

If you want to save some money, get creative and make the wedding favors yourself. When you make your own favors you can save a great deal of money, and no doubt your guests will all appreciate the trouble you went to in order to provide them with a special memento of your wedding day.

Budgeting Tip #3 – Forget the Sit Down Dinner – One thing that will cost you a great deal of money is having a sit down dinner that is served. Choosing to have a buffet instead will provide food that is just as wonderful at a fraction of the cost. You will actually be able to provide more food for your guests for less money when you go with the buffet.

Budgeting Tip #4 – Choose the DJ Instead of the Live Band – While a live band may be great, they are also quite expensive. A DJ can provide you with all the music you love and it will be much easier on your budget. Hiring a DJ can give you a wide selection of music so you can dance the night away without worrying about the money you spent.

There is no need for you to choose between the wedding of your dreams and a wedding you can afford. If you use these simple budgeting tips, you can still have a wonderful wedding while saving money as well.
