Know your enemy; the old war-time mantra goes.

In this case, the battlefield adversary is debt. And in order to defeat its creeping tendencies, it is imperative to have an intimate understanding of what is contributing directly and indirectly through added expenses in other areas.

The Problem

Most people who get into trouble with excessive debt don’t end up there due to some large expense or purchase. It’s more like the proverbial death by 1,000 cuts. In other words, it’s the small stuff that adds up and its killing every single day until the blood-letting is stopped.

The Solution

There are programs and applications available that can help bring debt under control through increased awareness. They give the consumer the proper tools needed to understand where debt is accumulating and how to reverse the trend.

Here are some of the best options available for maintaining proper debt management:

Debt Reduction Snowball Calculator: This free Microsoft Excel spreadsheet program provides various debt reduction strategies including the practice of paying the lowest balance and highest interest first – the debt snowball effect. The program is designed to eliminate credit card, auto, student loan and other forms of debt. A calculator work sheet helps set a monthly payment and an accompanying payment schedule worksheet keeps track of progress.

DebtTracker: The folks at “It’s Your Money” have put together various spreadsheets to assist in personal finance management with clarity and simplicity. The Checkbook Register can be used to manage transaction types in 200 categories while the Freedom Account sets aside funds for unexpected medical bills, auto repairs and other types of unexpected costs. There is also the Debt Tracker that implements installment plans to pay off debts; the Price Book for comparative shopping; and the Portfolio Allocation Spreadsheet that helps re-balance investment portfolios among others.

You Need a Budget: For $60, youneedabudget.com offers a software program designed to raise awareness of day to day finances so a function can be assigned for every dollar in play. You Need A Budget has been recognized by Macworld Magazine, Lifehacker, About.com and Amazon.com as a viable tool that is easy to understand and operate.

Mint.com: Possibly the best of the best when it comes to incorporating a truly dynamic approach to personal finance enlightenment. This program puts all monthly expenses in one convenient location for easy management. Mint.com also provides reliable security, bill reminders that are sent to cellular devices or email.

These software programs provide the essential tools necessary when making a concerted effort to reduce debt and maintain financial solvency. Personal finance management is not a spectator sport. Proactive planning and proper oversight are key parts of any successful plan for covering the present and saving for the future.

DC Randil believes knowledge is power. He writes about personal finance, accounting principals and other topics related to making every day better than the previous one.

Do we really like to live a life under debt? The answer is No. But as long as the credit card is in our bag we can’t liberate ourselves from the clutches of debt. The credit card acts like a serpent which keeps on tempting us to get thing on credit. After purchasing a luxurious item it gives a temporary satisfaction but it doesn’t last long. And when we are unable to pay the amount it piles as debt. This hampers our credit score and marks a spot on the credit record. And constant default can force us to file for bankruptcy which has a long lasting negative effort on our credit record. The easiest way to release us from debt is to avoid getting things on credit.

Today there are many debt settlement and consolidation companies in US market who offers us to join various debt relief program to get us out of the maze of debt but nobody wants to ruin their life by falling in debt. So if you want to avoid debt then first you have to choose cash-only life style. While others who are still lagging behind would soon choose this life style after a horrid lesson of debt. It is quite possible to pay for you expenditure from your daily income than borrowing money. Discipline and sacrifice is the bottom line to live debt free which means we won’t pay for things we don’t need and haven’t saved for. Here are seven important tips approaches to get us rid of bad debt.

Make a Budget: Budgeting is crucial when you are planning to free yourself from debt. If you spend more than you make then don’t expect to cut out debt from your life. Calculate the amount you bring home monthly and accordingly reduce your expenses. Avoid the use of the plastic even if you face a cash crunch.

Increase your income: Try to find other sources of income which would help you to pay off your debt on time. Go for part time jobs which would draw some extra money in your pocket. Give a room of your apartment on rent that would pull in money and enable you to pay off your debt.

Avoid using credit: Keep your credit card for emergency use. If you want to purchase a luxurious item then try to save the amount and then buy it. Develop a habit of saving, before indulging into any luxury ensure yourself that you have enough money to invest in.

Pay cash- To get a new car: Want to buy a car? Are you thinking of buying a car on credit and planning to go for a monthly installment? Keep that lofty idea in the loft! You will never be able to pay on time and then you would be treated as a defaulter. I would rather give you an advice for few years take the public transport and save the money to buy a car. Use cash to get a car than buying on credit.

Credit card bills- Quickly pay it off: Payment of the credit card bill with high interest rate is crucial as the soaring interest automatically increases the debt. Paying the minimum amount won’t solve the problem of debt. When one credit bill gets paid then part by part clear your other credit card debt.

Try Ebillme: This is a modern form of payment option where the consumer buys online but pays in cash. You will never be asked for social security number, your bank account number and credit card number. It has fraud protection, the products are guaranteed to be best and the buyer’s satisfaction can also be achieved. When you go for this online shopping they don’t ask for payment on credit card so you don’t get into reckless shopping.

Future Savings is required: The sole purpose of saving is to have enough money to lead a peaceful life after retirement. All work no play can make anyone feel dull so in order to enjoy the life after retirement you need to invest in some after retirement funds.

To live a debt free life is not at all difficult if you take mature decision before going in for shopping. Always remember get thing which you can afford by cash and save money for the items which are unaffordable. If you get into a habit of using cash you would never burden yourself with debt.

So you are loaded down with bills to pay every month and are wondering how you can start a savings account for emergencies and other high-expense events. In other words, where can you find that additional money to put away for later on?

Initially, when configuring your budget, plan for your savings first. You will become wealthier each month if you begin to pay yourself first. Before paying any bills, decide on a set amount that you will pay yourself first—maybe five or ten percent—or whatever you decide—of your paycheck. Afterward, deposit the amount into a savings account before paying any bills.

When you do this at the beginning of the month, your complete paycheck will not rapidly slip through your fingers. If you wait until the end of the month, there may be nothing left to save. Paying yourself first will give you a organized way to make your money grow. Regardless of your profession or your income, this method will work if you stick to it.

Another technique you may try for saving money is to empty your extra change into a coffee can or a jar day by day. At the end of the month, roll the coins and put them into your savings account. You may be able to save 30 or 40 dollars each month just with your spare change.

Keep in mind that good money management is more than just a mathematical formula. It’s too closely tied with the ups and downs of living to be just that. Your cash management plan is always subject to change if your life situation changes. The point of a good budget is to make your money go the farthest in helping you reach your targets, it is not there to force to you to abide by rules.

Don’t get discouraged if the financial plan plan doesn’t work completely right away. It may involve some revising and editing until it fits your needs. Then, confirm to review it often, and be sure it is making the best use of every penny! Because we know how helpful those spare pennies can be!

Try to avoid spending pitfalls!

With all the advantages that are evident from personal budgeting, it is no wonder that more and more individuals are relying on them to reduce debts and enlarge their savings. However, all ‘budgeters’ need to be wary to keep away from some common pitfalls that appear often.

Credit cards may seem like small pieces of plastic, however they can cause a great deal of trouble for the owners. It is common for people to make imprudent purchases, which they would have avoided otherwise, because they had the credit card in their wallet. The best solution for lots of people is simply to get rid of credit cards and begin paying only by cash, check, or debit cards. You may want to keep one card handy for emergencies, but it is probably best to keep it out of reach, and far away from your wallet.

Another dilemma with budgeting is impatience. There are financial goals set, but people do not have the patience to complete a savings program. For instance, an person begins setting aside money for a new car; however, after a few months they discover the car of their dreams. Rather than waiting, they make the buy. This could pose some serious financial strains. Discipline is a must to prevent impatience from breaking your budget.

If you’ve been looking at the newspapers and stories on the Internet, you have probably heard that creating a budget is very important. It’s only by tracking our incoming and outgoing money that we can see our personal financial picture. We’ll know how much we spend every month and exactly who it goes to. We’ll be able to find places to cut our expenses and put the difference toward savings, or an emergency fund, or debt.

If you have debt, particularly credit card debt, you will want to make sure you pay it off as soon as possible. Every dollar you owe is costing you money. Rather than putting that money to work for you, you are letting someone else build their wealth from it. Every dollar of debt you pay off is like a raise for you. It gives you more money for you to use to your own advantage. If you have debt, put as much money as you can, every month, in to paying that debt off.

1. Start with the family. Get your family together and explain your finances. Discuss how you are creating a budget and why. Talk about the need to live within your means. Maybe even talk about rewards for saving money, such as a family outing or vacation (paid with saved cash, of course).

2. List costs. Then, your next biggest. Continue listing them, from largest to smallest. Leave nothing out. Then, go through the list and look for ways to cut expenses, from the top to the bottom. Every little bit, adds up. Hint: Look at what you are spending on food. There’s almost always room to save, try to make sure you get ALL of them. Snacks, drinks, magazines, gum from the vending machine, etc. The more you can list, the better you’ll be able to estimate your budget. Start tracking every expense, to the penny, starting now. Over time, your list will be more complete.

4. Include an emergency account column. By assigning funds to these two categories, every month, you will be planning for, and protecting, your future. For the emergency fund, your goal should be at least 6 to 10 months of expenses. After you hit that goal, you can reduce your donations to this fund.

5. Ensure to include expense categories for recurring, but not frequent items. Things like care maintenance or doctor visits don’t happen very often, but they do happen. Setting aside funds in these categories will help keep you on track and away from items like your emergency fund!

Use this list as a starting point to learn how to create a household budget. It’s not step by step, but these tips should help point you in the right direction. Every day you wait is another day where you have no control of your money, your savings, or your future. Do it for you. Do it for your family. Just do it.

Read about how you can help to save money and support your budget. Start saving money on car loans with the help of auto loan calculator and its proper usage.

Learning how to create a household budget is important in today’s economy. It is only by tracking our finances that we can ensure our financial safety, if not success. We can see where money is being earned and where it’s being spent. We can look for areas where we can cut spending and move the difference to savings. We can plan our financial future.

The first step to creating your home budget is to see where money is coming from. Look at paychecks, alimony, child support, any source of regular, measured income. List these out, with the monthly amounts you receive. You want to make sure to list your NET totals (after taxes, etc). Now, add these up.

Now, list out your expenses. You’ll need to do this in two categories. The first is “fixed expenses”. These are costs that are consistent, every month. Things like rent or mortgage are fixed expenses. The other category is “variable expenses”. These are expenses that change, monthly. They may include, utility bills, clothing, food, etc.

You will should also track your variable expenses, from month to month to keep a running average. This will allow you to predict how much you need to put aside, monthly, for these expenses.

Now, subtract your expenses from your income. If the answer is positive, good job! You are spending less than you are taking in. You can put aside this extra money for savings, or future purchases. If the answer is negative, you are spending more than you make (yes, it’s possible). Now is the time to see where you can start cutting spending.

After setting up your initial budget, you’ll need to continue to track it, monthly. You’ll need to decide what you want to accomplish. You can try different combinations of expenses, to see how they affectyour bottom line. Keep experimenting until you find the combination that is right for you. You can set goals and adjust your variable expenses to meet those goals. You can set up any “what if” situation you need to plan for the future.

Once you have created and begin tracking your budget, you have taken the first step to learning sound money management skills. Continuing to track and adjust your budget will allow for further management. You can keep getting a better idea of where your money goes, how much you owe and to whom. It’s a great start. Make sure to keep your receipts and create a tracking worksheet to use monthly. Add up your receipts and other expenses at the end of the month. Use these figures to keep on track.

Learning how to create a home budget allows you to see where you are, see where you need to be, and plan for the future. It allows for you to increase you financial picture. It is important for your future.

Getting your credit in order is and important aspect of being financially stable. A consumer credit repair service is something that everyone should take an advantage of whether it is a free consumer credit repair service or is one that you have to pay for. The consumer credit repair service is there for you to use when you need help and offer you a credit repair review. When you find any marks on your credit report that you know should not be there or even if the mark is rightfully there then making use of a consumer credit repair service will help you review the problem and they will be able to properly deal with those issues.

The best thing you can do is to contact a consumer credit repair service just as soon as you know that you are in need of help. This is to make sure that things can get done quickly as the longer you wait the harder it is going to be to get everything in order. Even if the marks have been there on your report for a long time, the consumer credit repair service may be able to help you out although the odds generally will not be in your favor. You simply have to take it one creditor and one mark at a time and see what comes from it.

Every Action Costs Money

The services offered by any typical consumer credit repair service company costs money, much like any service provided in this world. In general you will have to shell out several hundred dollars just to get started, and this does not even guarantee you that everything or anything will work out in your favor. This will be something that you have to prepare yourself for as even non profit organizations will cost you a sum of money, however if you want a shot at getting your finances back in order then it is something worth trying even though you will have spend more money than you already have.

When looking for a consumer credit repair service company, you will really have to shop around and review your options. The reason for this is that these companies will be charging at different rates, and in your position you will want to go with a consumer credit repair service company that will be able to provide you the service you need without having to bury yourself further in debt. Typically you will get quotes anywhere from several hundred dollars to a thousand dollars or more.

At the end of it all, if you really need to get your finances in order then you may have little choice other than making use of a consumer credit repair company.

Money Management Firms

While not everyone likes to admit it, businesses and corporations realistically exist for one reason and one reason only: to make a profit for the owners of the company or for the shareholders of the corporation. For many businesses of all sizes, making use of the services of money management firms can help to assure profitability and cash management procedures so that the business can continue to grow and flourish.

On the flip-side of companies being in a growth mode is the situation where companies are not making money. In that case, there’s really no viable reason for them to exist. This leads to business failure, shutting down the operation and putting people out or work. Typically, unpaid debts will be left in the wake and will cause a ripple effect and impact other companies and their business cash management systems.

In general, professional money management firms are able to take care of a wide range of financial management services for a wide range of clients with varying needs. These firms might service government agencies, large corporations, small businesses, or even individuals who have a high net worth.

Within the many financial management firms, which exist in virtually every city and state across the country, are skilled and experienced money managers who each have their own approaches, techniques, philosophies and styles when it comes to business financial management and personal money management. Some financial planners and money managers will specialize in certain types of investments or in serving certain types of clients, while others will work with a broad spectrum of clients and financial management solutions and systems.

There are many financial management firms that specialize in buying and holding fixed income securities, such as securities backed by mortgages, asset-back securities, or various types of bonds, such as municipal bonds or corporate bonds. Other money management firm operations will have a stronger focus on equities, such as large and small cap stocks, international investments, or emerging market stocks.

It can be a rewarding, challenging and interesting career choice to go into money and financial management services, and money management companies are always on the lookout for people who can flourish in this fast-paced and demanding field. Typically, people who have strong social skills, a high level of intelligence, strong motivation to succeed and a desire to help their clients improve their financial situation by building them a solid passive income stream will be a good match for a career in this area.

Those who are interested in becoming a financial planner or money manager for one of the big money management firms should make a study of the financial markets, various investment vehicles and portfolio management theories. Overall, the money management industry is currently booming as people and businesses are scrambling to make their assets as secure as possible, while attempting to make them grow in an unstable economy.
